I have to say (and hopefully this doesn't jinx it) that Fiona has been relatively easy to potty train. She's only two but she was definitely ready. I lug the potty all over the house so it is always accessible for her and she just goes when she needs to. I have a process where we do 3/4 days bare bottoms, then introduce underwear on the 4th day and small field trips to try out public pottying. So far so good, she started undie wearing yesterday and had no accidents (besides one that was my fault so I don't count it). She's very proud of herself and loves the praise she receives after every successful potty venture. What I didn't anticipate was Luli's need for praise when Fiona goes potty, yes you read correctly. We tell Fiona "wow, great job Fiona" and high five. Luli then asks "did I do a great job too?" And of course, she gets a yes and high five.
Her recent trip to the dentist has helped bring the praise need down a bit, but she still needs a good feeling too (who can blame her!?) Luli had her second visit to the dentist on Tuesday morning. She did really great! She sat in my lap the whole time and the hygienist, Miss Lucy, explained how all the equipment works like the water squirt and "Mr. Thirsty." She was hoping Luli would be ok using them so we could do a fluoride treatment but Luli politely said "No Thank you." She chose grape as her toothpaste flavor and let the hygienist polish each of her teeth and floss them! I was so surprised and so proud of her. The dentist checked her for cavities and she had none. She got a take away bag with a new toothbrush which she choose (piglet, it's pink, of course), toothpaste and cherry floss. Then she got to pick a prize from the basket. She was very proud of herself and I was very proud of her!

Potty Training - Day One
Fiona developed a cold while we were at the beach and one side effect of it has been "the big D" giving a very uncomfortable diaper rash. We've been running around without bottoms on in order to dry it out and prevent further irritation. For the past few months she's been really interested in potty training. When Luli goes, Fiona will often follow her, take off her bottoms and take off her diaper (sometimes Luli assists in this) and then sitting on the potty. She's never actually gone potty, but is definitely interested. Being we're air drying I said, hey let's try potty training now. So far so good! She's done peepee in the potty twice and done a few of her not so great poos. She's really excited, she gets high fives and cheers from Mommy, Daddy and Luli. I'd be thrilled if this actually worked and my diaper days were coming to an end! Can it be!?
